From the Pres.
What a strange year for weather, it seems like Summer barely began and now its feeling like Fall already. I'm sure all of you have enjoyed mowing grass more often because of it.
Clock Repairs have slowed down a bit, about 3 a week now. My powered scooter and chair business is about normal for this time of the year.
I'm also designing a Vertical Axis Wind Generator. It gives me a change of pace using different talents I've learned through the years. Maryland wind is only Fair compared to other parts of the country but it should spin like hell once in a while.

I'll have a Booth this weekend at the Trolley Days Festival in Myersville Oct 17 & 18, demonstrating Clock Repair and promoting my business. Its an enjoyable family oriented weekend that is growing every year.
Hope the Weather behaves itself.

John Kuntz shared this website with us:

I mentioned at our last meeting my Tenure as your president is coming to a close. I'm looking forward to being a plain old member again. So get ready to be our next President and keep us together for another year. The jobs for Webmaster and Newsletter Editor will also be up for grabs. Those of you who find computers a remarkable tool will find this job worthwhile. Each of these jobs takes an hour or two every month.

Our next meeting is October 26, same time, same channel. See you there.

Secretary Report:

HAM 14 September 2009 Meeting Minutes

In attendance were: Al Takatsch, Bob Rothen, Earl Knight, Dan Spath, George Tresansky, John Ryea, Wilbur Robinson, Tom Koluch, Leroy Roberts, Larry Eichelberger, Gerald  Kincaid, John Kuntz, Brett Louis, John Bishop, Andy Abendschoen, George Painter, Bob Rothen and Stan Craig.

Al started the meeting by asking everyone to introduce themselves and talk about their current project(s).  There were quite a few interesting projects mentioned that led to some interesting discussions.  Al is building a wind generator, Stan rebuilding a coffee rusted, small lady’s watch.  There were a number of watch case projects discussed too.  It is always interesting to hear members describe their latest projects.

Old Business:  None reported.

Treasurer’s Report:  Presented and approved.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the previous meeting, posted on the HAM Home Page, were accepted as published.

New Business:

The 50/50 was won by Bill Miller.

Presentations:

George T. led a discussion on glass drilling.  The consensus seemed to conclude that full support of the glass on a flat was most important with cooling of the glass secondary.

Bob Rothen and Stan Craig discussed crown work.  Bob presented a selection of tools used to reshape the interior of a crown to fit its case while Stan covered buying and fitting new stems.  Thanks Bob and Stan for an interesting and informative presentation.

Respectfully submitted,

LeRoy Roberts, Secretary
