HAM   8 November 2010 Meeting Minutes

In attendance were:  Wilbur Robinson, Dan Spath, Stan Craig, Leroy Roberts, Bob Rothen, Jack Kennan, George Tresansky, George Painter, David Grau, Al Takatsch, Bill Miller, Nick Miller (joined 9/13/10 ), Tom Koluch, Britt Louis and Dave Booth.

Treasures report – Stan presented his report and it was accepted as presented.

New Business –

Stan stressed the need to identify and plan future training projects.  Members need to identify areas in which they would like additional training or demonstrations.

At a previous meeting we voted to present a lifetime membership to Gerald Kincaid.  Bob reported he sent a letter to Gerald informing him of same.

Bob called for a meeting of the board of directors and plans to have it at his house.  No date was set.

Old Business –

During a previous meeting the members present voted to extend the appointments of all office holders for another year.  It was approved.

The door prize was won by Bill Miller.

Presentation –

Bill Miller demonstrated the making and use of several handy tools that can be created with the lathe.  Bill recommended a book by J.M. Huckabee (our library has the book), which contains most of the projects he demonstrated.  He made a center finder and demonstrated marking center and then drilling an arbor using a pin vise to hold the drill bit. He stressed that the drill will follow the true center of the rotating stock.  He demonstrated a simple depth finder he made with a small piece of tubing and pivot wire.  It was an excellent presentation and we thank Bill for it.

Respectfully submitted,

LeRoy Roberts
